Just finished watching BSG S4 on DVD. Holy crap, what a finale! Normally I am not a fan of the long epilogue but those final scenes were so well done for everyone .....

Some questions occur to me though

*SPOILERS* behind the cut! )

Just finished watching BSG S3 on DVD - this only improves with the watching. The harrowing scenes of the occupation (and subsequent escape) not to mention the great revelations about the Final "Five" make this an end-to-end thrill ride. Sure some storylines drag just a little but the momentum is pretty good.

I am really looking forward to S4 - I never got to make much sense of it when it was on TV because they messed up the timeslot so often that I missed a lot of episodes, particularly in the second half of the season and the ones that I did catch didn't always make that much sense.

Just finished watching BSG S2 on DVD. I have always liked this season but I had forgotten some of the highlights - slacker-Lee, shaggy-Bill, tough-Tigh - good, all of them! The last episode of the season is a beauty - Cylons marching down the main "street" of New Caprica was a sight to behold. There were some new sides to characters - Roslyn trying to steal the election, Balthar showing some real charisma in public and Zarek actually being a man of principle (sort of) - that were real revelations.

Just finished watching the BSG mini-series and Season 1. I had forgotten just how shocking and out-of-the-blue the ending to S1 is - damn good writing!

Just as I adjusted myself to its pace and focus, news that Caprica is cancelled! Damn it and I had just started to get interested in it too! I did think that with Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome getting at least a provisional nod, it was unlikely that Caprica would survive too much longer.

I think that at least part of the issue is that Caprica is so different from the series that it spun off, that it fell between audiences. You probably wouldn't really watch Caprica unless you had watched Battlestar Galactica and yet if you had watched Battlestar Galactica, Caprica wasn't likely to be the kind of show that would appeal to you.

Returning to the Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome story, it looks like the situation might not be so clear, according to CraveOnline. If I read their take, the order is for only for a TV movie - the TV series may come out of that if it looks good enough.

Looks like the next installment will be called Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome, according to Moviehole. It looks like it will be another prequel but set in between Caprica and BSG and will feature none other than Bill Adama, fresh out of the Academy.

This can result in only one thing:
WOOHOO!

Just watched opening episodes of Warehouse 13, Caprica and The Event and I saw enough in each to want to watch them all again.

Caprica was definitely the pick of the bunch for me - I could feel BSG and Ron Moore's writing all over it which was all to the good. Warehouse 13 was definitely the quirky one of the bunch so, as long as it gets down to some substantive story telling soon, that'll be OK with me. The Event felt a bit like a Lost/FlashForward hybrid but interesting all the same. I don't really like the multiple flashback frame-within-a-frame thing so as long as they don't persist with that too much, I'll watch the next few episodes to see if I like it.

A BSG prequel - I'm in! The format sounds interesting - 10 9-minute webisodes.

Oh and that title just rocks!

Acording to Airlock Alpha, Syfy's Mark Stern (executive vice president) and Ron Moore have been in talks to develop another series out of the BSG-verse.

From Stern's quote "It would not necessarily be a traditional series", it sounds like they may be trying to think outside the the box. Let's hope they come up with another wonderful envisioning of this 'verse!

..... some good FlashForward news - James Callis will be joining the cast according to Airlock Alpha. Callis' portrayal of Gaius Baltar was always a highlight of BSG for me so perhaps he can have that kind of impact here.

Let's hope so!

Just scored the first five seasons of Wire in the Blood for AUS$12.99 (US$11.67) each and the second half of S4 of BSG for AUS$19.99 (US$17.96). The only thing I couldn't get was Wire in the Blood S6 but then I'm not sure that that's even been shown here yet.

WOOHOO!

Empire Online reports that Universal is looking to have Bryan Singer on board as producer and director for another re-imagining of the franchise. I'm not sure how this might do - Singer can make good movies but anything about BSG will just be compared the TV series and probably come up wanting, unless it is utterly stunning.

Nice artwork for the R1 box set at TVShowsOnDVD

Still no details on the R4 release but I assume the artwork will be similar.

I just noticed that BSG's The Plan will get it's R1 release on 29th October, according to TVShowsOnDVD. Again, no word on the R4 release date anywhere that I looked.

TV Tonight has a trailer for the BSG TV movie The Plan, written bu Jane Espenson, I think. Looks great, with every ounce of darkness and pain that comes with BSG. I wonder when it will get shown in here?

This year's nominations feature a number of TV series I like: BSG with 11, Dollhouse with 5 and TSCC with 2. Dr. Horrible's in there too for Best Web Production and Whedonesque is also nominated for Best Web site.

According to TV Shows On DVD, the R1 cover (which is usually similar, if not identical, to the R4 one, when it finally appears) for the last BSG box set will look like this
