I went down to JB Hi-Fi today with the sole intent of comparing prices on PS3's, I swear, but when I saw that they had 20% off DVD's, I just couldn't help myself: Dune (5 Disc), Torchwood: Miracle Day and The Event S1 were the result.
Assuming the R4 release is similar to the R1 version, it looks like there will be a wide array of extras according to TVShowsOnDVD. The series may have been brief but it looks like they have put every effort into the box set.
Last week, I managed to watch the last six or seven episodes that I had recorded and quite enjoyed them - certainly much more than when I watched them week-by-week.
And then the break.
Now The Event's return is probably delayed (although probably only slightly), according to Airlock Alpha. I hadn't realised the viewing figures for this series were low enough to put it into the "at risk" category.
Even though it feels a little like V meets Lost meets FlashForward, I am interested by the two episodes of The Event that I have seen so far. The plot has had enough surprises that my curiosity is satisfied without having so many surprises that it becomes incoherent. Let's see if it can keep that balance going.
Just watched opening episodes of Warehouse 13, Caprica and The Event and I saw enough in each to want to watch them all again.
Caprica was definitely the pick of the bunch for me - I could feel BSG and Ron Moore's writing all over it which was all to the good. Warehouse 13 was definitely the quirky one of the bunch so, as long as it gets down to some substantive story telling soon, that'll be OK with me. The Event felt a bit like a Lost/FlashForward hybrid but interesting all the same. I don't really like the multiple flashback frame-within-a-frame thing so as long as they don't persist with that too much, I'll watch the next few episodes to see if I like it.
