I dived into JB Hi-Fi on the way back from work today to grab the Game Of Thrones: The Complete First Season which came out today. Not only did they have it, I also got The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season and Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic.
WOOHOO!
WOOHOO!
GoT S2 casting
Oct. 13th, 2011 11:20 pmI'd usually list the castings individually but there's too many so I'll just link directly to the Season 2 Casting Catch-All. From the comments, I can see that people are worried mainly about the parts that haven't been cast but I suspect that the seasons will now take two per book - otherwise we''l catch up by2015 - and I can't seriously see GRRM producing another book before then.
And now a cookbook too
Oct. 11th, 2011 11:51 pmCookbook of Ice and Fire - I want to see the recipe for rat on a stick!
And so he should have too!
Sep. 19th, 2011 11:36 pmWOOHOO - Peter Dinklage wins an Emmy! He's been the highlight of the entire GoT series for me so far.
No better third time through
Aug. 21st, 2011 11:25 pmJust finished reading A Dance with Dragons for the third time. Sadly, my conclusion is that this book is indulgent - Martin needs an editor to reign him in. The book could have been half the size (i.e. lost about 750 pages) and not lost anything important. Indeed, it may well have gained something back - momentum. The more I read the book, the worse it got - and I think it is unlikely that I will buy #6.
Sad, really because I loved this series - #1 was wonderful and thrilling but the series has slowed and lost focus as it has gone on.

Emmy nominees too
Aug. 11th, 2011 10:59 pmBoth David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are nominated for Emmys for Best Drama Writer - there's a an interesting comment from them both here about the most difficult moment to write on the series to date.
First of many?
Aug. 11th, 2011 10:50 pmGame of Thrones won Outstanding New Program at the Television Critics Association's 27th annual TCA Awards. Let's hope this is the first of a whole swag of awards that it wins.
The Seven are looking good
Jul. 30th, 2011 11:54 pmAs the headline says, 3 revealing Game of Thrones season 2 set pics. A little too Terracotta Army in look for me but not bad all the same!
All three might work
Jul. 26th, 2011 10:44 pmNot sure how I missed this casting news for A Game of Thrones but I think all three of these might work well (based on an utterly superficial search of Google Images)!
Stephen Dillane as Stannis Baratheon, Carice van Houten as Melisandre and Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth all seem to be good matches to my version of what I think they ought to look like.

Slowly, oh so slowly
Jul. 15th, 2011 09:43 pmI've read another 223 pages of A Dance with Dragons and it is slowly getting better. As much as I like both characters, the Daenerys and Tyrion chapters are boooooooooooooooooooooooooooring! When we go back to the North, those chapters get interesting. I think the addition of the thread that goes with Tyrion's story (he said, very clumsily trying to avoid an enormous spoiler there!) is an error - it just seems (at this point, 489 pages in) an unnecessary, almost deus ex machina, move.
Amazing work
Jul. 14th, 2011 11:41 pmFully detailed maps of the lands of A Song of Ice and Fire, especially the full heraldic map of Westeros - the time and effort here ..... just breath-taking!
GoT Casting rumours
Jul. 4th, 2011 10:21 pmSeveral interesting ones here - I can definitely see Ecleston Baratheon as Stannis or as Roose Bolton. Both are intense, focused characters and Ecclestion can certainly do that! I don't see him as Balon Greyjoy however - not quite sure why exactly but it just doesn't match.
Not sure about this one
Jul. 1st, 2011 11:12 pmNatalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell - she doesn't quite look as I imagined Margaery would but all the other casting has been spot on so who am I to judge?
Game of thrones R1 DVD details
Jun. 22nd, 2011 09:07 pmAlthough there's not much to go on yet, TVShowsOnDVD reports there are already pre-order pages up on Amazon. Good to see such enthusiasm so early on!
