Just as I adjusted myself to its pace and focus, news that Caprica is cancelled! Damn it and I had just started to get interested in it too! I did think that with Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome getting at least a provisional nod, it was unlikely that Caprica would survive too much longer.

I think that at least part of the issue is that Caprica is so different from the series that it spun off, that it fell between audiences. You probably wouldn't really watch Caprica unless you had watched Battlestar Galactica and yet if you had watched Battlestar Galactica, Caprica wasn't likely to be the kind of show that would appeal to you.

Looks like the next installment will be called Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome, according to Moviehole. It looks like it will be another prequel but set in between Caprica and BSG and will feature none other than Bill Adama, fresh out of the Academy.

This can result in only one thing:
WOOHOO!

Just watched opening episodes of Warehouse 13, Caprica and The Event and I saw enough in each to want to watch them all again.

Caprica was definitely the pick of the bunch for me - I could feel BSG and Ron Moore's writing all over it which was all to the good. Warehouse 13 was definitely the quirky one of the bunch so, as long as it gets down to some substantive story telling soon, that'll be OK with me. The Event felt a bit like a Lost/FlashForward hybrid but interesting all the same. I don't really like the multiple flashback frame-within-a-frame thing so as long as they don't persist with that too much, I'll watch the next few episodes to see if I like it.

Our new TV Channel looks like its got some good programmes to launch - Warehouse 13, Caprica and Primeval, just to mention a few. The description of its intended demographic concerns me - "It is the first broadcast television channel to cater for men 16-49" - it's going to be all T&A and monster trucks and fart jokes within a year, the launch programmes not withstanding!

According to TVShowsOnDVD the release for the S1 R1 box set will be 5th October and it will have a very nice cover

The trailer is up at SCI FI Wire and it looks promising. The look is still a little disconcerting - I was expecting more of SF look rather than the 50's retro look. However the acting looks good, the script sounds tight and premise sounds interesting (still).

According to SyFy Portal, SciFi Channel has ordered two more scripts in addition to the already ordered pilot. It's not exactly a whole series order but it's certainly better than nothing!

Not sure about the "50's feel with high technology" idea but then who'd have thought some camp cheesy 80's space opera could have been turned into to the gritty, gutsy thing that is BSG today?
