Acording to Airlock Alpha, Syfy's Mark Stern (executive vice president) and Ron Moore have been in talks to develop another series out of the BSG-verse.

From Stern's quote "It would not necessarily be a traditional series", it sounds like they may be trying to think outside the the box. Let's hope they come up with another wonderful envisioning of this 'verse!

I'm very much in love with Caprica, so I don't see why another spinoff wouldn't be awesome. I just don't know why they have to do one so soon. Why not wait a few years? Well, I guess it may take a few years for it to get up and running, so starting now would makes sense.

I don't know whether it's good or bad to do the two series so close together - on the one hand they might end up competing against each other for viewers, even if they are on the same channel, simply because people can only watch so many hours of TV in a week. On the other hand, the new series can draw on the momentum and reputation of the first one - the premise of Caprica really doesn't draw me in, for example, but because it's a BSG spin-off and because it is Ron Moore, I'll give it a go when it gets here.
