Just bought my tickets for Supanova for Saturday 23rd June. There's a few people I might get signatures from:
Tricia Helfer
Mercedes McNab
Callum Blue
Alfie Allen

OK, now I really am excited!

Just noticed the Firefly A Celebration Anniversary Ed . Looks lovely but I'm not sure that I'd buy it, given that I've already got all three books that make up its contnets.

To be honest, the gigantic storm that was supposed to tear up the state yesterday turned out to be a bit of a non-event for us. Sure, the winds were strong but they were nowhere as strong as Sunday. Not complaining, though!

Round two

Given that BOM sent out another severe weather warning, (note this line:This storm is expected to cause WIDESPREAD DANGEROUS WINDS in excess of 125 kilometres per hour that could cause SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OR DESTRUCTION TO HOMES OR PROPERTY), we prepared this evening:
both cars filled wth petrol
4 bags of ice (if we lose power and have to put all the freezer stuff into the eskies)
refilled spare gas bottle for the BBQ
so many candles and matches that we could light the sky up
moved all small loose items from outside
pulled up roller door so it doesn't get bent
brought in from the shed four large traps and securing ropes in case the roof goes
and bought several rolls of duct tape (for windows if gets really bad).

In addition the children are going to stay home from school tomorrow.

Let's hope that's all enough.

The storm didn't too much damage to us - shredded the waterproof shadecloth on small front pergola and knocked over one of the bottlebrush trees at the back corner of the house. What was unsettling was that the shadecloth shredded in just seconds and the tree tipped over instantly. Although this wasn't damage, the sight of the entire Colourbond steel roof of the main pergola heaving up and and down like the breathing of some gigantic beast was disturbing.

Still, power is still on and the wind is decreasing (from it's peak of around 100kph to about 50-60 kph) so it could have been much worse.

WOOHOO!

Despite being unable to find any kind of release date for it, I stumbled across The Almighty Johnsons S1 today at JB HI-FI. I loved the series when it was on but I misssed the first two episodes so it was really great to find this boxset.

I really hope they make a second series.

Walking around JB-Hifi on Saturday, I saw an old favourite - Diablo II and expansion - for just $10 each. At that price, who could resist? Consequently, I have spent most of the last three days getting usd to that slightly warped 3D perspective that so used to drive me crazy. Fun times, all over again!

Holy crap!

HOLY CRAP!
Dollhouse starts on Eleven at 9:30pm on Monday 11th June 11!
Finally!
And just one last sentence that ends in an exclamation point - I am *that* excited!

*facepalm*

I just had my first McRib since the 1980's - and it tasted just as nice as it did then!

Renewing last week's struggle, my newly acquired can of spray certainly got them all running and dying.

SWEET VICTORY AT LAST!
(It is just possible that there were fewer than 10,341 spiders - but only slighlty.)

Spartan Games will release Campaign Book: Hurricane Season, Large Landing Barge and Landing Platforms and Small Landing Barge Set - just after we had been talking at PAGS about the lack of integration between the land and sea versions of the game. Once we get the airborne transports, it will be really intergrated.

Today's Job of the Day was to get rid of all the spider webs on the outside of the house. When I got to the web brush it was covered in webs itself and there was a very large redback sitting on the handle, glaring malevolently at me. I went to get some flyspray but there was none in the house.

You may have won this round spiders but wait until next week when I buy some spray!
