It was strange experience, watching this movie. This will probably be the big one for Joss - good box office movie numbers, lots of money for the studio and get him offers to make lots of other movies. The movie was big, dramatic, enormous in scope, wonderful SFX, good acting - and I could care less. There wasn't any moment where I cared about any character, the outcome any battle or, after a while, whether any character even lived or died. In short this wasn't a Joss movie for me.

I left feeling like I had watched a good superhero movie - that just about anyone could have written and directed. It will be sad if this the movie that gets Joss into the Hollywood A-league because he did it by not being Joss. Congratulations to Joss for a big movie - but it just wasn't my kind of movie.

Yes, I do indeed have conjunctivitis so it is eye drops and blurry vision for the next few days. The doctor also took an eye swab (there's another thing I can cross off my "It was never on my bucket list any way and, now that I have done it once, it's certainly not going to get added to that list" list) because we are "in the midst of an epidemic of viral conjunctivitis" (his exact words). If it does turn out to be viral, there will be some new eye drops and tablets to take. YAY!

ETA: having used the drops twice today, the eye does feel slightly less irritated so maybe it is just bacterial?

Irritating

Woke this morning with my right eye on fire (metaphorically) and got told all day that my eye looked like crap. It got worse as the day wore on so I think it's off to the doctor for me tomorrow.

Bonus!

I dived into JB Hi-Fi on the way back from work today to grab the Game Of Thrones: The Complete First Season which came out today. Not only did they have it, I also got The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season and Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic.

WOOHOO!

Rather than go all the way up to Perth for the Dystopian Wars Edition 1.1 Master Rulebook, I decided to drop into Asgard Games during my lunch break. Sadly, no book (but they have ordered it for me) but I did get a second Covenant of Antarctica Naval Battle Group!

As an additional bonus I dived into Cosmic Comics (right next door - so convenient!) and they had a hardback copy of The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor so I grabbed that too. Neither were what I went shopping for but both were good buys!

I got a chance to read Noddy's copy of the Dystopian Wars Edition 1.1 Master Rulebook at PAGS tonight - those rules really have changed more than I thought they would have so I definitely need to get a copy of that book ASAP. I had the impression that this was just a minor rules tweak but it is considerably more than that - the sooner I get familiar with the new rules the better.

Just before I left for work this morning, I remembered that I hadn't watered the plants out the front. I went around to the outside tap to fill a bucket to water them. As I turned the tap on, it broke apart in my hand and water started spraying everywhere. I tried to get the tap back together but couldn't (and got soaked in the process). I knocked on the door and eventually got someone to turn the water off at the mains. As I stood, there was an agonizing pain in my back that just about floored me.

Long story short, I had popped a rib in my back and, one painful adjustment later, I could at least stand up right! I have spent the rest of the day resting and not touching taps unless necessary!

Had my second "serious" game of Dystopian Wars last night and enjoyed the game again.

Detailed report tomorrow night but I well and truly nailed Noddy's fleet!
catalyst2: (Default)
Just arranged to play a Dystopian Wars game with Noddy at PAGS tomorrow night - 1000 point per side and Noddy's bringing his own fleet. It's the first time I have played outside of the confines of the starter box and the first time I have played someone else's fleet (I have supplied both fleets in the other games, practice or otherwise).

Now off to work out a fleet list.

I tripped over some litter on the canteen floor at work today. When I picked myself up and looked back, it was the "No Littering" sign that fallen onto the floor.
