Just watched Wilfred S1e05 Respect and I'm disappointed. This just wasn't as funny as the first few episodes despite its potentially funny premise - Wilfred has the ability to predict the deaths of the elderly people in the aged care facility where Ryan is volunteering. I knew the reason that Wilfred "knew" instantly but it just wasn't made into any kind of funny story. Disappointing really but it is the first that missed so 4 out of 5 isn't bad.

The latest page is here - I suspect that she means it literally, given the look of that razor!

Nice cover

The cover Double Dexter is a little plain but very much in keeping with the theme
and it's behind the cut. )

The latest page is here - the Captain is going to be so very very irritated with Zippy!

I have read quite a few of the older entries on Adrian's Undead Diary (hereafter AUD). Reads quite well so far - quite a deliberate, detailed style but doesn't get bogged down too much.

Hectic day

Didn't really do anything for my birthday today - that much to do, having been away for a week, that there was barely a chance to catch my breath. Still, after this many birthdays, I think the novelty has worn off for me.

Just found Adrian's Undead Diary - just read the first few entries and it looks interesting. Plenty of archives to explore so that will make for some catching up.

Not sure how I missed this last week but, given that this week is just a skip week, here's last week's episode - not sure what just happened there, did they just ascend ..... or ..... what?

The latest page is here - Spikehead is not a nice man, I think!

So very long in the waiting but at last there's a date - 13th April 2012. Let's hope that's the same release date for here!

The latest page is here - Brand is in the house!

Had one of those muffins that is a perfect synchronicity of flavour, texture and size for afternoon tea today. It was a chocolate chocolate chip muffin - soft, moist, very chocolatey, lots of chocolate chips and big. It was a wonder to behold - and consume!

I wasn't sure where to eat tonight but in the end we went to The Meat & Wine Co Darling Harbour. I had BBQ chicken wings with blue cheese dipping sauce - the BBQ sauce was, on its own, too sweet but when paired with the sharpness of the dipping sauce, became a perfect combination of flavours. Very nice indeed - even if a little expensive.

Just got back from dinner at Blue Fish at Darling Harbour. I went the conservative (some may say boring) route and picked fish and chips. Absolutely exquisite - because it is such a simple meal (there are only three components after all, fish, batter and the chips), I think it is hard to make really good fish and chips. These were right on every score - and not too expensive considering the location and the portion size. Very pleasant dinner for the first night in Sydney.

I've read another 223 pages of A Dance with Dragons and it is slowly getting better. As much as I like both characters, the Daenerys and Tyrion chapters are boooooooooooooooooooooooooooring! When we go back to the North, those chapters get interesting. I think the addition of the thread that goes with Tyrion's story (he said, very clumsily trying to avoid an enormous spoiler there!) is an error - it just seems (at this point, 489 pages in) an unnecessary, almost deus ex machina, move.

Fully detailed maps of the lands of A Song of Ice and Fire, especially the full heraldic map of Westeros - the time and effort here ..... just breath-taking!

266 pages into A Dance with Dragons and I am not impressed - this is turgid, stilted prose. Feels very over-written? Over-thought? Maybe GRRM spent to much time thinking about this one?

The latest page is here - it really was a "Surprise!" moment from Brand and I have a sneaky feeling it is not over yet!

Finally got my copy of A Dance with Dragons - nowhere had it yesterday because deliveries were running late (to an entire town??????).

At 1016 pages, I can see this taking a while. I have read the first 50 pages or so - very hard going so far, not at all like GRRM's usual flowing prose!
