..... on CBR makes for an interesting read - it sounds, not surprisingly, like he's quite sad that Dollhouse has wrapped up for him already. It does sound like he has something else to do thought:
"I intend to do more comics, but I intend to do new comics. I'd like to throw some new ideas."

Sounds interesting. I think Joss said in an earlier interview that we'd know by the end of January (roughly) what his next project is going to be - let's hope it's a brand new HBO TV series! Either that or the long-awaited Fray movie!

From this interview with Scott Allie, it looks like The Shepherd's Tale is definitely on and getting closer to a clear date to start. Allie sounds like he's got most of the team ready for it so I'm guessing next year before we see it.

Also this from Allie:"Well, I'd like to do more Fray"
Hell Yes!

Dark Horse have finally put *that* cover on show, along with the blurb for this issue. I've already posted the Chen cover (no Jeanty variant yet) so I won't post it again but

here's the blurb. )

*Consider every link to be to a major SPOILER in this post.*

There's a great interview on Comic Book Resources with the artist for this issue (and the next three) as well as blurb and four pages of preview

and it's all back here. *SPOILERS* )

Faith and Choice in the Works of Joss Whedon is the title of a new book, due out Spring/Summer 2008. Sounds fascinating - and I love this section already:
examining the unconventional family dynamic in Whedon's comic book miniseries Fray and television series Firefly. Finally, some critical analysis of Fray - there is just so little around that anything is a bonus, even if I disagree with it, at least it's a starting point!

I'll definitely be ordering this as soon as I can!

In this video, Joss said that most wonderful news:
"Fray is not done. Fray will be coming back. More than that, I will not say."

If I die tonight, I will die happy!

Although I saw the Chen cover for BtVS S8 Issue 6 a while ago, I hadn't seen Jeanty's variant until now

and it's behind the cut with its blurb. )

Inspired by my start on the Fray TPB last night, I thought I would look for some fanfic to compliment it. My incredibly sophisticated technique (type "fray fanfic" into Google and then press ENTER) didn't produce any real results - a few sites, yes, but no fanfic that I could find. Does anybody know of any Fray fanfic - I would be interested on people's take on Melaka, given that we have such a brief snapshot into her life?

Just started reading the Fray TPB again and it reminded of just how amazing this story is. In one way, I am glad I came late to this because, if I had been collecting the individual issues (with all the delays that that included in Fray's run) I think I would have gone nuts.

That said, I read this especially slowly tonight, looking at each frame individually and examining each part of its components. How you can get everything to happen in such perfect timing, time and time again is just beyond me. There is not a word wrong, not a line out of place, not a colour mismatched - everybody puts it on the line every time and it pays off every time!

It was such a shame that we only got this and the 6-page "Tales" in the Tales of the Slayers TPB. Given the ending of "Tales", it would have been wonderful if we could have seen Melaka being particularly guided by the Watcher's Diaries of one Rupert Giles!

Better still - where is the live action version of Fray? Forget Wondy and Goners, Joss, get to this! And cast Kristen Bell as Fray - ever since [livejournal.com profile] electrcspacegrl suggested her, I haven't been able to see anyone else in that role!
