I haven't read this series yet so I am not sure but the Only Human series has a go at it. Compared to the power of the TV episodes that dealt with Fred's death and Wesley's grief, nothing has even come close to that yet though, sadly.

I've never understood the fans that accepted the "soul burned up in the fires of resurrection" explanation - considering the solitary source of the info, I would doubt it's reliability.

I was suspicious from day one.

I had a fic idea that dealt with this, and it took Wesley to a really dark place. It was awesome - in my head. I was never able to put it to paper...er, computer.

I could definitely write Illyria, and probably Fred, but Wesley is more difficult. I have a hard time with British characters.

With British characters, you just have to remember that understatement and poise is the core - that and a self-deprecating sense of humour! ;-)

I get to say that, being born in Britain and all .....
