Just to really nipick

Now, it's not that I'm a detail-obsessed geek (ah, who the hell am I fooling? It's exactly because I *am* a detail-obsessed geek) that makes me point out that the "Komodo Dragon" in Dead Like Me S2e08 The Escape Artist is in fact a Lace Monitor.


Komodo Dragon: note the very sturdy neck and generally dull and patternless back markings with the ridged thick tail


Lace monitor: Note the long tapered neck and regular colourful pattern on its back with the long thin round tail


Now watch the episode again - clearly it is a Lace Monitor, NOT a Komodo Dragon.

you're in good company. for some reason i knew enough about great lizards to notice that too when i saw that ep.

I totally noticed that too! Probably because I live near the San Diego Zoo and remember seeing the komodo dragon since I was little, and it was very memorable. I also remember with horror learning about the bacteria in their teeth that is deadly.

I did not however pursue the issue to discover the proper name for the species shown in the episode, so geeky bravo to you!
