I totally noticed that too! Probably because I live near the San Diego Zoo and remember seeing the komodo dragon since I was little, and it was very memorable. I also remember with horror learning about the bacteria in their teeth that is deadly.
I did not however pursue the issue to discover the proper name for the species shown in the episode, so geeky bravo to you! :)
