Strangely quiet

Peculiar experience driving to work today - almost no traffic with the streets very quiet apart form some really drunk people staggering and stumbling about. Was it Mardi Gras last night and I missed it?. Any way, I'm here really early because of the light traffic.

Is it a public holiday and I don't know about it?

Have I missed something here - first the streets are empty and now no-one else is at work? WTF? Did I get left off the guest list?

No-one else is here at work. Don't know what's up but I'm going to go home work from there for the rest of the day. Phone's been really quiet too - and my mobile's got no charge. You wouldn't credit it but I've left the bloody charger at home too!

What a journey!

Just got home but holy crap, what the hell is happening here? There's people - but they are not people - and holy crap! they are sick or something and lurching around and attacking other people and just what a mess!

So bad that I grabbed the kids out of school (who seemed to blithely unaware of what was happening except that the Bursar did say that there were a lot of kids away today - with no call from their parents to say why. Anyway, got home to find my partner a bit freaked out. There were some more of those sickos hanging out at the shops and it frightened her so much that she came home.

Now what?
