Just a small splurge this time

While I was in Perth, I dropped into Quality Comics and Empire Toys as usual. I was fairly restrained this time: Firefly: The Official Companion: Volume Two, Angel Scriptbook Collection: Volume 2 and Redeemed: The Unauthorized Guide to Angel were the total extent of my buys. I've only had a quick look through all three but they all look fascinating reads. The only other thing I was tempted to buy was a Georges Jeanty-signed Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8: #1 (variant cover) but at AUS$60 that was too much even for an obsessive like me!

Also noticeable is the stop-start nature American Football vs the continuous running of Aussie Rules (eg, if you are awarded a free kick you can keep on playing if you wish in Aussie Rules).

Yes, she found the Canadian football game to be very slow compared to Aussie Rules, even though the Canadian version is usually considered to be more exciting than the American version. ;)

We had a Canadian guest lecturer here last year who said much the same -he did admit to being a little prejudiced because he liked the Canadian version more but he said that if the American version was like a Hummer, then the Canadian version was like a Jeep and the Australian version was like a Ferrari! I liked that analogy.
