The trip turned out to be lots of fun, even if I was a bit underwhelmed by Beverley (sorry, any Beverley-ites out there). It didn't seem that cold this morning but I took a sweat shirt any way. Darren decided that he wanted to give his SAAB convertible a bit of a burn and going 110kph in a convertible when it is only 16C, is cold. After a while, I realised that my teeth were chattering so I put on the sweat shirt and it all became much more warmer!
Lunch was a pleasant surprise - Darren had made an exquisite lunch of cold meats and cheeses and dolmadas (not sure of the spelling but they were stuffed vine leaves any way!) followed by chocolate muffins. Very nice considering I was expecting a luke-warm meat pie from a dodgy deli somewhere between No and Where.
We came back via York and did some bird-watching on the way. Considering how much noise we were making, we did well, managing to see about a dozen species including Golden Whistlers and a flock of 6 White-tailed Black Cockatoos.
Some photos follow and they are large
( but at least I put them behind a cut. )
