Spent the day watching Survivors (2008) - Series 2. I really liked S2 - but there was no way you could have had a clue what was happening unless you had watched S1 and that's probably why it got cancelled - there was no way it could have picked up new viewers.

Great ending - just wish it hadn't finished there. I am almost tempted to see if there is any S3 fanfic!

Just finished watching the pilot episode - now my opinion will not be exactly objective because I am a fan of SMG's but I liked this on the whole. SMG did great job of making two identical twins into two different characters and handled a complex part well. The twin interaction scenes were generally well done except for the mirror scene (you know the one I mean) and all the scenes on the boat - some of the worst green screen work I have seen in a long time!

I like that there are about ten different threads to follow and that nothing quite seems to be what it seems - and yet I get the impression that Siobhan was juggling quite a complex life before she "died". "Died" because I'm not convinced that she is, at all - in the same way that Bridget realised that she was the only one who knew that Siobhan was dead, I wondered if Siobhan set the entire boat thing up and left Bridget to be the sole witness (and possibly frame her at the same time?). Siobhan is probably really pissed right now that Siobhan isn't dead!

I'm definitely interested in watching next week but some questions must start to get answered - if this is just question after question after question, I'll get bored!

I want to like this show, I really do, but it's still ordinary for me. This episode did seem to loosen up a bit - Jason O'Mara cracked at least two facial expressions (but sadly Stephen Lang only managed his usual single quizzical/sneer thing). At least there was an explanation as to why the camp was attacked by the DotW (Dinosaur of the Week) as opposed to insane ravening blood lust that every other dinosaur seem to show.

Better? Yes.
Good? No.

I will give it two more episodes.

Spent most of the day watching Survivors (2008) - Series 1 - heresy though it may be, this is as good as the original although I have to pretend that the original is a different series altogether. Part of the original's charm is the utter lack of knowledge of any explanation for the pandemic - it just happens and sweeps all before it.

Ironically, part of the charm of the 2008 re-make is the effort to explain a little of how and why (especially in S2) - it just means that the original and the re-make have completely different feels to them and focus on different perspectives.

WOOHOO!

Finally got my copy of Walking Dead HC Vol. 07 - I know what I'll be reading for the next few hours.

Just in case I was being unfair about the two episodes, I just watched them again - no, regardless of how much praise other people are heaping adulation on them, they are still dreary, barely watchable crap. Still, I'll watch another three episodes, just to be fair.

Not quite sure how you have a trailer for a book

but here it is. )

So far, I have undercoated the CoA Naval Battle Group in Chaos Black and I am now most of the way through putting a rough coat of Codex Grey over that so that the camouflage colours won't be too dark.

Started work on the Dystopian Wars CoA Naval Battle Group I bought a couple of weeks ago - I was going to post pictures of each stage as I went along but I got so carried away tonight that I was on to the second coat before I remembered. Pictures will come tomorrow, I swear!

I have waited so long for this series and finally it was here. And I was so disappointed - I had always worried that, in the midst of gorgeous location, great special effects and pretty actors, they would forget plot. I was wrong because plot made it - but characterisation didn't. A less engaging bunch of people it would be hard to imagine. Stephen Lang and Jason O'Mara are so wooden it is painful and I am well over the bunch of teenagers that appear to be sub-plot. Bored now!

I know that their car is big (and red) but, as I passed the sign that said "500 car parks for The Wiggles this way -->", I wondered if they really needed that many.
