Don't know where this (and others pictures in the same series) came from but I am endlessly impressed! Just in case you don't believe me, here's another shot that shows the pencils close-up.

Yeah, there's a series of 8 pictures, all as amazing as these two. It was the triffid one that caught my eye as Day of the Triffids was the first fiction I ever read (I think I was about 10) that ever freaked the hell out of me!
That is impressive! Any idea how long it took to make it? Just the time it took to sharpen all the pencils to the right length would have taken quite some time, I would think.
BTW, Day of the Triffids is the only one of John Wyndham's books that I haven't read. I watched the movie and it was so hokey that I could never bring myself to buy the book (I have all the rest of his) or even read it.
No idea on who, how or what for the pencil creations at all, I'm afraid.
Day of the Triffids is a very good book - the best of John Wyndham's stories imo. Don't judge it by the film - the book really does have the air of paranoia and persecution about it, all done just so much better than the movie.
