This was the long-awaited Apoc game against 6k of Tim's Daemons.

This was a fun game and, for the first time I've ever played an Apooc game, was over by the end of Turn 3, when Tim conceded as he'd already lost 80% of his forces (my victory condition). My forces were 40 terminators, 20 assault marines, 10 Vanguard, a 5-bike squad, 3 speeders, 6 dreads, 3 Land Raiders and a whole slew of Predators and Whirlwinds, along with my Stormlord.

We were playing a custom scenario which, unfortunately for Tim, ended up really favouring my marines. Essentially, I had to defend a shrine and he had to come and get it. Of course this played right into my tactics - enormous concentrated firepower with all the land raiders and terminators down first turn. I kept all of my fast attack options in the second wave to plug any gaps that looked likely.

My first turn of shooting was devastating - I took out at least 50% of his first wave, including three Daemon Princes while he killed off one Land Raider.

My second round of shooting was even harsher - I took out two more Daemon Princes with about 35-40 other Daemons. All the terminators disembarked so the only combat was with terminators - I had heard people moaning about Lysander+10 TH/SS terminators but this was the first time I had ever used it. They made every single one of their own saves and cut down the last two Daemon Princes. The other two terminator squads in action also did immense damage, only taking light casualties themselves.

So far, the only combats had been for the terminators but now the fast attack options on each wings came into their own. On the right, the speeders plus bikes and two dreads mopped up that wing whilst the two assault marine squads and Vanguard did their job on the left. It just remained for the barrage from the Thunderfire/Stormlord/Whirlwind battery to kill another 48 Daemons with the centre. In close combat, all four terminator squads were mopping up everything in front of them - Fateweaver and a Greater Daemon died (forgotten which one) and the assault marines took out two Soul Grinders.

At this point Tim looked over the board, looked at me and conceded. The gunline had indeed done it's job well.

My W-L-D record:
40K: 36-14-1
Apocalypse: 3-0-1
Planetstrike: 0-1-0
