Date: 2010-11-04 01:08 pm (UTC)I just have the suspicion that
a) given that Spartacus is still in the name. most people who watch (because the vast majority are viewers, rather than fans) will be asking where Spartacus is and
b) the plot summary just felt a bit ..... umm ..... forced, maybe?
Perhaps I'm just assuming the worst, as usual.

Date: 2010-11-05 03:40 pm (UTC)Batiatus and Lucretia are incredible
Absolutely - with two talented actors like Hannah and Lawless, they are a dynamite pairing.
You realise that I'm not being entirely rational in this argument - I agree with everything you but I'm still not convinced.
Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong but at the back of my mind ......

Date: 2010-11-05 04:02 pm (UTC)I heard Wentworth Miller wants the role, and I really hope that doesn't happen. Did you see any Prison Break? That dude is a one-note actor. I liked him in the first season in spite of that fact, but that dude does not have any nuance. I did read that they want someone with a convincing British accent so I'm sure that in itself will exclude Wentworth.

Date: 2010-11-05 04:11 pm (UTC)I never could get into Prison Break but I did watch all of S1 and the start of S2 and definitely agree with your comments about Miller.
I wonder why the British accent is so essential - it's not like Spartacus was supposed to be from there, or, for that matter, that a British accent even existed then. I'd have thought that Hannah's Scottish accent already made the accents irrelevant?

Date: 2010-11-05 06:01 pm (UTC)And you know how possessive fans can be. I expect people to hate whomever they cast just because he's not Andy Whitfield.
I don't know about the accent. I assumed they wanted him to seem European. Oh, and I was wrong when I said they wanted a convincing accent. The article I read said "authentic". I think that means they want to cast a British actor.
