Movie Review - Idiocracy
Aug. 31st, 2010 11:27 pmI definitely have mixed feelings about this movie
- one half of me laughed and the other cringed but that cringe was mainly because of the satirical sharpness of some of the scenes. Outstanding for me was the "electrolyte meeting" - and if you have seen the movie, you'll know what I mean. Once you see that logic on the screen, you'll start to see it in action in the real world.
I strongly disagree with eugenic argument that forms the basis for this movie but can still enjoy it beyond that. The much sharper observations about the confusion between good service and obsequiousness ("Welcome to CostCo. I Love You)", the degeneration of corporate identities and logos (the decline of Fuddruckers into Buttfuckers is hilarious) and other very contemporary corporate imperatives are great to watch.
Enormously uneven film but with some real moments of genius sprinkled through it.
