Very unoriginally, the series will premiere on 31st October (Halloween) in the US, according to Total Sci-Fi. There's no word on when it will get here, if at all, but I remain hopeful.
Things From Another World is hosting a screening of the premiere at a local theater (the same theater that screened the final seasons of BSG and Lost), but it's at 10pm on a Sunday night across town from where I'll be living (I'm moving this weekend). So, bummer.
BTW, I'm REALLY excited about this show. Just recently began reading the graphic novels, and plowed through them in a month. Up through vol. 11, I'm still waiting for 12 which is on order at the library.
Bummer, indeed. From the little I've seen, it certainly looks interesting. I particularly liked the quote from Frank Darabont (I think) where he talked about it not being about how spectacularly characters could be killed off but about the relationships between the characters and how they adapt and change. That got me more interested than anything else, I think.
DO IT! I think it's the most engrossing graphic novel series I've ever read, not that I've read a lot of them. But it's so shocking. It goes to these really dark places where I'm like, "Oh no, they're not gonna go there...Oh wait, yes they are!" And it blows my mind.
I also like how it explores the darkness inside each one of us. Like what we would do in that situation, and how far would we go to survive? And at one point I realized there are humans in the story that are worse monsters than the zombies.
Now that sounds very interesting - I've just noticed that the newsletter from my nearest comic book store has a whole pile of new Walking Dead TPB's so I may have to invest in a few.
