Battle #54

catalyst2Last night's game was 2000 points against Dave's 'Nids.
Very tight game, the highlights of which were:
1) my tactical squad in the centre holding off 20 gargoyles and 15 termagaunts for 3 full turns before eventually being killed off having killed off 8 gargoyles and 6 termagaunts
2) my usually reliable speeders and Dave's usually lethal hive guard exchanging shots for 3 turns and doing precisely nothing to each other
3) my "feeble" little shotgun scouts coming on behind a squad of genestealers with Broodlord and killing them in the space of a turn with the loss of just four scouts
4) the very next turn the same depleted scout squad taking on three ravagers and also killing them off
5) the final turn will-he-won't-he drama which came down to the last roll of the last combat of the last turn which resulted in me killing off his last termagaunt on my objective with his having been cleared of troops by my Whirlwind.
Result: victory to me by one objective to nil. As always, a great fun game against Dave, bitter-fought to the final moment.
What I learned tonight:
1) I really like my shotgun scouts!
