catalyst2I really enjoyed Joss' run on Astonishing X-Men but I haven't read any of Ellis' take on the story so I thought I would read Astonishing X-Men: Ghost Box TPB to try it out. I tried, I really did but I just cant get past the artwork. When I can read a scene where I can't recognise Emma Frost then something is terribly wrong, given Emma's iconic position in the Marvelverse. Don't get me started on my inability to tell the difference between Cyclops and Wolverine - I know, wtf?
The story was OK - I like Ellis' writing on other things - but the artwork just made it impenetrable for me. I'm really disappointed because I wanted to read more of this story but sadly, this will be my last dip into this story - unless that artist changes.
