catalyst2Last night's game was 2500 points against Mark/Alex ('Nid/SM respectively)
It was nice to take 2500 points so I could put in almost all of my favourite toys.
The 'Nids were on my right and SM on my left, deployed well back since the mission was Annihilation with Pitched Battle deployment.
Turn 1, he shot and missed. I shot and killed bucketloads of 'Nids and fired the occasional nuisance shot over at the marines. I rammed my Land Raider into the centre of his line and my lightning claw assault terminators ate his gargoyles.
Turn 2 he shot and killed two tactical squad marines. I shot and killed his entire genestealer squad with the sole exception of the Broodlord. In assault I killed some of his hormagaunts with the termies and my Ironclad Dread tied up his termagaunts. Both his Carnifex and his Swarmlord went down to 1 wound.
Turn 3 and his marine assault squad Deep Strike in, straight into terrain so I put them over in the back corner as far away from me as I could. Nothing of his is in asault range but the Ironclad killed another two hormagaunts. In my turn, I fired and killed his Broodlord, his Swarmlord and his Carnifex. The terminators killed a few more termagaunts, leaving just a handful but themselves died to a ripper swarm attack whilst the Ironclad killed yet more hormagaunts, leaving just three in the squad.
Unfortunately, we had to finish there but the score was 5KP to 1.
Final Result victory to me by 5KP to 1. If the game had gone any further, it was likely I would have got another few KP from the few remaining 'Nid squads left whilst I could have then whittled down the SM through straight attrition.
What I learned tonight:
1) I do like bigger games - more toys for the boys!
2) LC termies in Land Raiders can deal out some serious damage fast and early!
