1000pt vs Ork today in straight annihilation. Finished in a draw technically but I had way more points left on the table than him. I didn't deep strike my terminators and it showed - they were on the table from turn one and attracted attention from him from the get-go. They did deal to a mob of 25 Boyz (there's only 6 in the terminator squad) and then ripped three deff koptors to pieces in the very next round. If the game had gone one more turn, I think I would have cleared the board with them.
Definitely going to think twice about deep striking terminators - if they don't turn up until turn 3, for example, unless you get a good landing spot, I'm not sure they really get going enough. Having them on from turn 1 immediately makes your opponent become aware of them. Today, for example, my tactical squads were largely untouched because he focussed on the terminators. Consequence? When the close combat did start, both tactical squads started with only one casualty, with the terminators at full strength. We won't talk about the bike squad! *cough*losers*cough*
ETA: now that I have actually read the rules on Annihilation, I won by 3 kill points to one.
