I'm not sure if anybody else is reading this wonderful series, written by Warren Ellis, but I'd just like to say that it rocks more and more with every issue.

I've read a lot of it--the beginning and end-- but I need to catch up some in the middle. I'm really impressed with the artwork. I don't follow many comics so I can't adequately compare and contrast, but it seems like the illustrations take a lot of risks and push boundaries compositionally. The under water stuff is amazing. The style is definitely influenced by anime, which I'm not a fan of, but it's so subtle that those of us non-anime fans are not hit over the head with it. And, the story line is great, awesome cliff hangers.

I'm a bit sledgehammer aware of art work - that is, until it caves my head in, I just continue on, blithely unaware but even I've noticed (and enjoyed) that artwork (as well as the story). I also love the panoramic city skyline shots they've done several times.

I just spent an hour reading all of it. Time well spent indeed.

Definitely - Warren Ellis can spin a fine tale. I'm seriously considering getting the TPB when it comes out in November.
