I spent $1000 and got .....

one thin tube with a balloon (which she inflated whilst up my ass!)

oh, and a CT scan (which, to be fair, probably made up most of the cost).

Net result?
I have severe, active diverticulitis with widespread inflammation and infection. YAY ME!

I have been in severe pain since Tuesday so Wednesday wasn't the funnest birthday ever! I do now have painkillers (I haven't taken any form since 1988) and antibiotics. My white cell count was sky-high so I have to go back to get that tested again on Monday. If it hasn't dropped considerably, I will be in surgery before the end of the week to clean out the infection and if it is severely abscessed, I may have some bowel removed. YAY ME!

So, yes, well, fun.
ETA: Also had to drink a litre of crappy-tasting lime cordial. For $1000, I should have been able to choose the flavour, at least!
