Good interview with Scott Tipton (author of the Auld Lang Syne series) at Fractal Matter. If you are absolute spoilerphobe, don't go there - but he did have some interesting ideas about some future projects. There are no spoilers in anything below. Two quotes particularly interested me:

"I'd love to do more with Illyria, and never really got to work with Gunn at all. I've got some notions for an Angel/Spike/Illyria team-up story that I'd love to sink my teeth into. Time will tell"

and

"I always really liked the Spike/Giles relationship. That'd be really fun to play with. I also think I've got some great Xander stories in me. Maybe one of these days the stars will align and I'll get the chance."

If this guy gets to do even half of those ideas, I will be in heaven, I think! The interaction between Giles and Spike in BtVS S6e6 Tabula Rasa, not to mention the foreshadowing in BtVS S4e22 Restless (and how many of those other things have come true from that ep?), could set this up wonderfully. More Xander stories? I can only say "YAY!"

I hadn't even thought of Ripper in this context but that would be even better! I wonder if Joss will ever consider that? It could only really be written by Joss, I think, or maybe one of the big guns like Fury, Espenson, Petrie, Goddard, DeKnight or Minear (although he never wrote for BtVS, he can do dark and twisted with the best of them). Given that the time to do the original tv-movie / mini-series seems to have gone, maybe comics is the only way we will ever see Ripper?

I would *love* a comic of Ripper with flashbacks and all. BUT, I'm still rooting for a BBC Ripper. Joss is busy, so any of the fine writers you mentioned would do this show some amazing justice. I would add Rebecca Rand Kirshner and Marty Noxon too :)

I had forgotten Rebecca Rand Kirshner - but I am not sure if she could make the transition to comic book writer. All the others already have, I think, at least once. I have to a say I am not keen on Marti Noxon's writing - BtVS S6e10 Wrecked being #144 in order of BtVS quality in my opinion and Point Pleasant could be very clunky at times. But different medium, different situation so that might make a difference?
