5 preview pages are up at Comic book Resources. These are the first pages of Drew Goddard's arc and, without giving anything away, Drew just nails the dialogue for every character instantly.

The blurb:
"Acclaimed television series writer, Drew Goddard (Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Alias; Lost), takes the reins on Season Eight with his four-issue arc titled "Wolves at the Gate." The gang (yep, Dawn too) travels to Tokyo where they duel vampires with unusual, yet strangely familiar, powers."

Page 2: Xander's line in panel three is as funny as anything I've read so far this season!

Page 4: That is Satsu grabbing Willow, isn't it?

Page 5: No, I take it back - "You want me to assassinate you?" is the funniest line so far this season!

Whilst I have liked the comics so far, I think this the first occasion when I could hear the actors saying exactly these words, exactly as intended. Drew Goddard just got every line note-perfect and, given that I think his sense of story is exquisite (Selfless is one of my all-time favourite non-Joss episodes - and did you that that was the first script Drew ever wrote?), I am really looking forward to this arc.

I'm looking forward to it, too. I like Drew's writing - and his enthusiasm for anything Buffy. I did know that was his first script. Sometimes being a fan and taking a chance does pay off. ;-)

I'm really enjoying the S8 comics, but I'm still a bit ambivalent about Angel. I'll have to see as the story develops. I certainly enjoyed Brian Lynch's Spike series.

Lynch's Spike stuff was great. Asylum and Shadow Puppets were both good - and they got better as they went along too. The TPB's before that (Dracula and the three one-shots) were good too but not as good as Lynch's, I think.

I've enjoyed the After the Fall comics so far but the medium is so slow compared to the TV that it gets frustrating at times.
