I'm not even a Star wars fan but ....
Nov. 27th, 2006 11:03 pm.... this is one bloody impressive work of art: Star Wars: Complete Locations. This book covers all six episodes of the story but the sheer complexity and fine detail of the illustration is what caught my eye. This is one truly lavish work - now, I don't know enough about this 'verse to know if the drawings are strictly accurate (witness Andrew and Jonathon's squabble in BtVS S6e5 "Life Serial") but the artists' devotion is apparent in every intricate detail and every tiny added nuance to every picture.
For a n00b like me, the detail is overwhelming but the beauty of the book is that it just draws you in and you can spend hours trying to trace the trajectory of Obi-Wan's fall during the speeder chase on Coruscant after the assassination attempt on Padme.
Just a breath-taking piece of work and, even if you have no particular interest in Star Wars, you should still get this for the sheer visual thrill. I have gushed enough - now I am off to see if I can find out where the Bacta tank that Luke recovers in after the wampa attack is located.
