AtS: After the Fall #1 review *SPOILERS*
Nov. 22nd, 2007 10:10 amI have read it - and it rocks but anything else I say will be
Angel is being assisted by the Ghost of Wesley's past - but it is all good because Lynch really gets Wes's voice. I thought that, if Wes did come back, it would be really hard to get the voice right but Lynch pulled it off.
Connor is working with Gwen and a very confused Nina ("It's the sun/moon situation. They're both out at once. Do you have any idea what that does to a werewolf?").
Gunn has a gang together that seems to be taking out the demons in a fairly systematic way. I wonder if there will be a big smackdown between Gunn and Angel sometime - there almost has to be doesn't there?
ETA: Gunn gets some kind of glowy amulet thingy from Kr'ph (his heart even?) - is this going to be a Rah-Tet puzzle-theme to restore the daylight?
Betta George is back - WOOHOO! - enslaved initially but free now (or did he get stabbed - I can't tell?)
There's plenty of humour - "She's tenderizing me!" and " ..... and he had a big forehead." - both cracked me up - balanced with plenty of action.
The final reveal would have been really great, had I not been spoiled for it long ago. If you didn't know though, it was played perfectly to lead you on the wrong track and then BLAM!
The Angel: First Night blurb sounds good. Did I read somewhere that it will be 64 pages too? And include Lorne as one of a number of characters we see after *that* night?
The Issue 2 blurb: "In Angel: After The Fall #2, Joss Whedon, Brian Lynch and Franco Urru continue to tell the tale of Angel after the climactic battle that ended the Angel television series. Between the array of new enemies and fallen former friends - not to mention the state of Los Angeles itself - can Angel possibly find a reason to go on? And can some familiar friends help provide that reason? (answer: sorta, and definitely not, in that order ....)"
Issue 2 will clearly have Spike in it, given the covers we've seen already but I really want to see what Illyria is up to!
