Pushing Daisies - ratings
Oct. 12th, 2007 10:30 pmAccording to SyFy Portal, the ratings for Pushing Daisies fell "from the 8.3/14 the show earned for its premiere, but (so far, at least) it remains the top-rated genre show this week". I know it's early but that should at least get it to its fourth episode shouldn't it? Cynical? Me? No, I'm a Tim Minear fan - getting four episodes to air is like a season for me!

RE: the early cancellation thing - a friend threatened not to watch "Burn Notice" because shows I like get cancelled, and I had to point out the "not on Fox argument", too. USA is also more loyal to their shows (better than ABC, in my opinion). ABC has cancelled some stuff (the 9 and Daybreak come to mind - hope I don't have those networks confused), but I don't think the ratings were as good as PD.

Being in Australia, we have to watch the whole cancellation thing pretty much with frustration because the entire routine often happens before the show ever even gets here.
Something that has happened recently I think is going to turn Australian TV on its head is that it looks as if our best viewing season is going to align with the US. Historically all our programmes wind down about now ready for summer and we get endless cricket and tennis footage mixed with equally endless M*A*S*H, Brady Bunch and Simpsons repeats. Surprisingly quietly, the three major commercial networks have begun all the new seasons at the same to time as they started in the US, only days behind US viewing rather than in April/May next year as in the past.
There isn't perfect alignment though - we are getting Damages, Californication and many others but sadly no Pushing Daisies, Mad Men or Reaper yet.
