catalyst2I went to the supermarket today and they have new system - it's one of the self-dispensing "take a number and wait" things so I took a number - 701. The PA came over - "Now serving 498".
What? There are 202 people in front of me? But then the the PA went to 499, 500 , 501 , 502 etc. After 500, nobody stepped forward to the counter but it went on:
... 503 ... pause ... 504 ... pause... 506 ....
(cue hi-speed montage of bored shoppers)
... 531 ... pause ... 532 ... pause ... 533 ....
(cue even higher hi-speed montage of *really* bored shoppers)
... 557 ... pause ... 558 ... pause ... 559 ....
Finally ,after about 5months weeks days hours minutes of this stupidity, a supervisor got to the speaker and spoke to them - but forgot to turn the PA off.
So this is broadcast to the whole supermarket:
Supervisor: "Don't call those ones out, please"
Staff: "Why not?"
Supervisor: "They are all missing - we've used them for something else."
Clearly he meant that that customers HAVE GONE MISSING AND ARE BEING USED AS SAUSAGE MEAT! You heard it here first folks!
