I have just listened to LOVE, the album of Beatles songs remixed for Cirque du Soleil and, if these songs have any meaning for you, avoid this album. Every track has been so cleaned and sanitized that it is almost muzak.

The raw thump of Back in the USSR is gone, replaced by something that could be the On-Hold track for today's Russian Consulate and the sad poignancy of While My Guitar Gently Weeps is replaced by elevator clone music. Just awful - no track is better for being fucked around like this and some are rendered into bland pap by having every error and idiosyncrasy edited out, along with all the passion and emotion.

Thanks for the review, good to know. I've been wanting to go see that show in Vegas. I imagine that with the cirque performance it might be tolerable and hopefully good, but I can see how it would be hard to listen to on its own.

As part of an overall performance it would probably be fine but yes, as a recording in its own right, it was not the best, imo.

Thanks for that, [livejournal.com profile] catalyst2, I was looking forward to hearing this album. One of my favourite CDs is Cirque du Soleil's soundtrack of "Journey of Man", which I play almost as much as my Firefly/Serenity/Buffy related CDs!
