We are such creatures of habit
Aug. 21st, 2007 08:43 pmThe office down the corridor from me is being remodelled. It is on a corner, one side of which is a secure door onto a public corridor, the other wall of which backs onto a staff-only corridor. That wall used to be enormous floor to ceiling windows. Those windows have now been ripped out, leaving the office with just three walls. What I love is that the guy who works in the office still walks right around to the door, unlocks it and then goes into the office. When he wants to leave to office, he unlocks the door, walks right around the building and then walks up the staff-only corridor. He could just step straight through the "missing" wall and be there instantly. I guess we just get so conditioned that we can't do anything else but follow that conditioning, no matter how illogical.
