I just watched S1e1 of Dexter. Words cannot do that episode justice. Everything works - the acting, the sets, the script - just perfection! Michael C. Hall and Julie Benz are just perfect as that awkward, fumbling both-of-us-feel-we-have-to-but-neither-of-us-really-want-to couple. It sticks pretty closely to the first book but seems to be going through that story fairly fast so there will have to be some original stories in there too, I think. All to the better. Full marks to Michale Questa for the direction and Timothy Schlattmann for the script. Let's hope it can keep this up. From comments people have made about later eps, it certainly seems so!

I thought I would grab lunch at a Deli as I drove between places today. I stopped in at some nondescript deli and had a look around. I grabbed a chicken salad sandwich (see I do eat healthy food occasionally but - shhhh - don't tell anyone!) and asked if she had a chocolate chip cookie to go with it. She disappeared behind the counter and then brought something over in a big brown paper bag.
"Is that my cookie?" I ask, not sure what she is bringing over.
"Yep, we make them special here."

At $4.40 for the cookie, I thought it was a bit expensive but gave it a shot.

It was only when I got back to the car that I looked closely. This thing was 9 inches across, if it was a day, with thick stripes of dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate across the centre, each about an inch wide. The cookie itself was packed full of chunks of dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate. The consistency was firm but not crisp, soft but not crumbly - just sheer ecstasy! You could have fed a family of 5 with that thing!

Best. Cookie. Ever. EVER.
