Now the main plot device was fairly unoriginal but what I did like was how Tosh dealt with her sudden ability to the thoughts of others. It gave a very good insight into just how isolated Tosh was and how difficult she found it to fit in, even before she started to hear other people's thoughts.
Now here is my hesitation (and just note that I liked everything before this and everything after this) - why the hell didn't Tosh run a mile the second Mary started giving her her biography? Tosh works for an allegedly top secret organisation and yet a total stranger knew everything about her?
RUN! RUN! RUN!
The scene had to play one of two ways for me - either Mary did this very slowly (over weeks, if not months) and Tosh slowly accepted it or Mary did this fast and Tosh got the hell away from her. For it to go so fast AND Tosh accept it just didn't work for me. Now this aside (but sadly, this point is the crux of the entire episode), I liked a lot of this episode.
The entire Gwen/Owen thing is interesting - I'm glad they kept it going but also kept the guilt and confusion going. I liked that Ianto was feeling so desolate inside, not because I have anything against Ianto but just because it would play better this way.
Jack's disposal of Mary was a little anti-climactic - I think it was intended to come across as ruthless but it was so abrupt it was gone - no angst! I liked that Tosh couldn't hear anything from Jack but yet Jack could get a psychic message to Tosh when it suited him. Tosh's decision to destroy the amulet was understandable given the immediate prior events but couldn't it have been kept for the team? These guys seem to trash a whole lot of stuff that has value if properly used.
