Movie review: Chronicle
Feb. 10th, 2012 11:09 pmCombining two flavours of the month - the shaky cam perspective and the superhero deconstruction - this movie could have been a disaster.
Rather, it turned out to be a great character study in which both "flavours" were incidental. With Steve being too good for his own good and Andrew being too bad for his own good, it is left to middle-of-the-road Matt to save the day and to go on to do the right thing with his powers (we assume). The climactic final battle was well done, avoiding the obligatory "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" scene as one friend died at the hands of the other.
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie - much better than I was expecting.
