Hey, we made the news!

This is us and last night's fire - we're the Halls Head part of the item.

Last night was unpleasant though - no power meant no fans and the only thing blowing was smoke-laden hot Easterly winds. All the fires stayed out although there were one or two small flare-ups during the day. The two youngest spawn returned, a little apprehensive so we walked them around to show them where the fires had been and that the fires were all out. That seemed to calm them so they were OK after that. The power didn't come back on until about 5pm so all the ice-cream had melted in the freezer. Other than that though everything stayed frozen so no real losses. Everything does have this layer of grey ash on now though and so smells fairly strongly of smoke.

Yikes! My apartment building caught on fire about 8 years ago. It was such a sucky night AND scary night. Glad you are OK.

Glad you're okay, catalyst2. About a month ago there was an apartment fire in Surrey (a suburb of Vancouver) which left 100 people homeless and some pets dead. Tonight on the news one woman was reunited with her second cat after all this time! (Her first cat was found a couple of weeks ago.)

Yeah, all OK - there was quite a margin of saftey but it sure as hell didn't feel like that on the night!

Thanks tijnat. The scale of the fire was quite large when we walked around it. The couple across the road lost their white poodle very early on (it made a run for it when the smoke started coming) but it might turn up yet - it has only been two days so hopefully they'll be in luck.
