I hate buying mobile phones

catalyst2Went into the shops today to buy a replacement phone for my partner. Despite asking for an exact replacement, the salesperson insisted on the hard sell. Hard sell to me is like a red rag to a bull - I just cannot resist trying to gore the person responsible. After listening to an interminable "2 megapixel this" and "bluetooth that" and "peripheral X" and "Plan 1-2-3" and "additional whatsits", I couldn't help myself.
"So, can I use this to make phone calls?" I ask, hoping that this may break the patter - or at last get her to breathe! "I will have to check that feature out" she replies and continues with the patter, not even missing a breath - until the thought landed about 30-45 seconds later and then she ground to a complete halt. Success! And then I told her that I was buying the phone anyway as it was the exact replacement, just as I had asked for. If looks could have killed .....
