Nothing got me happier this year than finding out that Joss Whedon was writing Buffy Season 8 - not on TV sadly but in comic-form which is nearly as cool. Since then I have kept track of any tidbits that have come up about this. I have ended up visiting the Kaba Lounge quite frequently to keep in touch with any post about Georges Jeanty . Here is the latest information that I could find - nothing revolutionary, I know, but at least there is consistent progress on the project. As much as I loved Fray, the delays in that project were a killer. I think I would go nuts if BtVS S8 started to experience those kinds of delays. I hope that, after Joss finishes his 4 issue run, one of the show writers gets a run. Any of the following would be OK:
Jane Espenson - always good for the funny (and Jonathon-centric episodes, not that that is really still possible - or is it)?
Drew Goddard - anybody who can write "Selfless" gets my eternal devotion
Doug Petrie - one of the most underrated writers in the Slayerverse but one of my favourites - could this guy drive the main arc forward or what? Hello, "Fool for Love"!
Ben Edlund - for sheer verve and imagination, this guy had no equal (except Joss, of course)
David Fury - always good for the change-of-direction episode that turned the season direction on its head - "Helpless", "You're Welcome" anyone?

The second tier would be Tim Minear, Steven DeKnight, Rebecca Kirshner and several others.

Just keep Marti Noxon away, please? She has one note and a fairly flat note at that!
