I finally plunged in - tonight I bought DVR with a 160GB hard drive. I had set aside a fair bit for a good quality one but I ended up spending all of $150 for it as I got a discount for my workplace - we had done some contract work there a short while ago - and it was already discounted because they were clearing out stock for summer. Paying cash got me a further discount - Consequence? A 50% discount off the price! WOOHOO!

Of course we all have to face the trauma and spectacle of me trying to connect another appliance into the TV.
