I won free tickets to the special preview screening of a movie tonight - In Bruges. I had never heard of it but it turned out to be quite good if you can stand Colin Farell's eyebrows and intense violence interspersed with black humour and repeated jokes about how boring Belgium is. The final scenes dissolve into a Hieronymus Bosch-inspired nightmare and are wonderfully twisted and warped.

It surprised me - very funny and surprisingly moving.

That's a movie that's been touted by Richard Roeper (a top popular movie critic in the US) as a really good movie.

It was certainly a different movie. I am not a fan of the shakycam-for-the-sake-of-it thing nor do I like the long "serious" close-ups on the face so the look wasn't good for me. It was funny in a bleak and unrelenting way though, just how I like it.
