I loved that the therapist pin-pointed that he couldn't be close to people because he couldn't let go - but when he dose let go, boy, does he let go!
Both sex scenes were intense in a good (and yet quite different) way. I like the distinction you made - one, intense because of the emotional connection (Deb & Rudy) and then other because of the sheer release of energy, I suspect on both people's part! I had also suspected that Dexter didn't like sex - in fact, I think he refers to women leaving him once they get to see how empty he is during sex? Was that the VO during the scene where he left Rita's house first time after (not) sex, the one where he nearly tripped on the toy fire engine? Perhaps the was the first time he had ever enjoyed sex because he did let go?
I didn't think of Rudy as ITK at all until those very final scenes where it is obvious. It did cross my mind (and that was a short crossing, I tell you!) that perhaps Rudy had set up Perry just so Deb got credit for her idea, regardless of other issues. Obviously he didn't but it was one possibility.
I now like the way the TV version has moved away from the book - the book, as much as I liked it (or rather both of them) would have been a pretty simple and linear story for TV. I do still wonder what connection Rudy has to Dexter - same as the book or different? Mind you, as a wise woman once said to me "Let TV-Dexter be TV-Dexter. He is not Book-Dexter". So, in one sense I don't care if it is the same as the book or not - either way, this is great viewing and a compelling story.
