catalyst2Watchmen is embroiled in a lawsuit between Fox Studios and Warner Brothers over Fox's alleged copyright over any movie version of Watchmen.
The tale is long and twisted (see above link for details) but, given that the movie had been in production for a long while and the notice of the intent to make the movie was announced an even longer time ago, why launch the lawsuit now - unless it has been launched at a point where Warner Brothers have invested so much money that they are past the point of no return?
Fox now waltzes in and either:
A) kills off the production and deals WB a big financial blow or
B) gets a cut of the profits, having not spent a second or a cent to get that return.
Win-Win for Fox, Lose-Lose for WB!
