I love Wednesdays

When the training chef at work asked me to taste desserts, I thought he meant just last week. It turns out that it is every Wednesday until the first week of December!

Consequently, by 11 am today, I had had a chocolate eclair, a slice of Bakewell tart, a slice of Madiera cake, a slice of apple pie and two varieties of shortbread. Every one of them was absolutely perfect. Cheers Lee!

Of course, I did feel close to rupturing at that point!

One long Belgian joke!

I won free tickets to the special preview screening of a movie tonight - In Bruges. I had never heard of it but it turned out to be quite good if you can stand Colin Farell's eyebrows and intense violence interspersed with black humour and repeated jokes about how boring Belgium is. The final scenes dissolve into a Hieronymus Bosch-inspired nightmare and are wonderfully twisted and warped.

It surprised me - very funny and surprisingly moving.
