Iron Chef America
Jan. 7th, 2007 08:38 pmFinally got to watch an episode - and it turns out to be the one where Iron Chef Cat Cora is introduced. The surprise ingredient was potato - wait, potato? Turns out this is quite a good version of the now-sadly defunct original (Japanese) Iron Chef.
The commentators for ICA are a little more intrusive but you do get a better feel for what's happening at floor-level. The judges are more forthright than the Japanese ones but their feedback seems more realistic too. The food, as always, was stunning - most of it surprisingly edible but at least the surprise ingredient wasn't anything too bizarre. Any programme that has Purple Peruvian Potato Gelato (IC Cora) has to get my interest!
