So I finally get to the counter at the local fast food burger joint. The guy takes my order and then goes away somewhere. Customer in the queue next to me looks over and says "You'll be lucky if you get any fucking food out of these buggers". "Oh God", I think, "the local crazy has found me again!"
And then he explains - he's been standing there for ages. He realises that he placed his order a looooooooooooooong time ago and still no sign - he's already paid for it btw. In fact, not only is there no sign of his order, there isn't even any sign of the guy who took his order. The customer called the supervisor over, who was adamant he had got his order - but other customers in the queue supported him and told her that he hadn't. Turns out, she had told the guy to go on a break and he had - right in the middle of the order! In fact, the guy had even left the building. The best bit was that she was absolutely adamant that the customer couldn't have the order until she had phoned the Store Manager at home to see if it was OK. Just before my order came, his food finally arrived - a small chips and a cheeseburger for his daughter. Probably less than $5 worth of food.
As he walked out, he got a round of applause for, well, getting his food, I suppose. As the supervisor went to take the next order, that customer said, "Get me someone who I can trust!"
PERSPECTIVE PEOPLE! I am not sure who or what was more pathetic, all things considered.
