Sometimes you just have to wonder
Oct. 19th, 2006 02:40 pmWhen I read a story like this, I always think "What kind of life do you lead when it takes FIVE DAYS for anyone to notice that you're missing?" Following soon after that is the question "What kind of society have we become that A) we let that happen and B) we aren't even concerned when it does happen?"
To paraphrase my favourite philosopher, "life happens to, on occasion, suck beyond the telling of it. Sometimes more than I can handle. And it's not just mine. Every single person down there is ignoring your pain because they're too busy with their own".
I don't think I have anything else to say - this kind of stuff depresses me too much if I think too long and hard about it.
