For all I had heard about this movie, I expected this to be the worst movie of all time, or damn near to it. It wasn't that bad - but it wasn't good either.
First check of the watch - about 20 minutes in
I am not a fan of Ben Affleck so I am a little frightened to say that he was one of the beter actors in this movie. Jennifer Garner is just awful here - just vacant, nothing. Colin Farrell is worse still - he exudes about as much menace as a Care Bear. I get that villains in super-hero movies have to be larger-than-life but Farrell is just laughable here. Consequence of these two - a love interest I couldn't care about and a villain I couldn't care about. Maybe that's it - it wasn't a bad movie, I just didn't care about it. For a fairly big-budget movie, the SFX were crap and the CGI was embarrassingly awful.
Redeeming features? Michael Clarke Duncan was an absolute revelation as Kingpin. Every scene he was in was improved immeasurably by his presence. Benn Affleck portrayed Matt Murdock's angst well and damn nearly made me care about what happened to him, no small task given the crap around him.
